Is it worthwhile using QFF points to upgrade an economy flight from SYD to AKL? What is the quality of service like in business on this route?

Given the fact there is only 12 seats in Business, the likihood of getting an upgrade is minimal.  The service is equivilent to a domestic cityflier flight across the country.

I believe you do get an option of Champagne as a welcome drink on jetconnect flights, which they don't have on Cityflyer routes. (I did the last time I flew AKL-BNE in J).

So that'll be the only difference besides the expedited customs at both ends.

...with enough time for a couple more wines... (without being looked down the nose at)

My friend - this is probably my most frequently travelled route.

the benefits: normally get upgraded if book and request upgrade 7-days prior (if QFF Platinum), a lot quicker tracking thru customs each end, and complimentary customs express cards (if you arent top tier QFF)

BUT: if you have future plans for longer international travel routes, save your points!

I agree. "rough it" on this flight and use your points on a much longer and more important flight, I.e. HK

Save the upgrade until you can use it on EK's A380 on that route.
