Good Afternoon I have just reached Gold for the first time and was wanting to know if the Hotel/Car Hire memberships start on the same day as your gold membership or do they commence from when you sign up?
For example if I sign up for HHonours in three months time does their year of membership expire at the same time as my Virgin Gold (December)or a year after HHonours sign up (March 2018 )?
Only asking as I will not be staying in any Hotels for a few months and would like to maximize my HHonours etc for as long as possible.
I've been leaving the hotel and car rental matching chances alone for 2 years. It is meaningless to have them redeemed if you cannot renew them. I guess that VA had those matching policies free because the hotels and the car rental companies wanted the valuable customers of VA.
The Hilton works on a calendar year basis and the membership period starts from the time Hilton turns you into a gold member, this can take up to 30 days from putting in the request via the VA web site.
As said above, you need to opt into the hotel/car hire status match on your account page on the Velocity website in order to get the status. I did my Hilton one in Nov and it will be matched till March 2018. Although in order to keep the Gold level, you need to achieve their minimum nights/stays/points requirement in the 2017 calendar year as per usual HHornor policy.
