Discount economy to Perth and then Flexi back is another option.

Use the status calculator on the Qantas site and then look at what options will get you there for the lowest $$...You may find two sectors that are light on for pax load which 'may' mean lower fares in the upper tiers of economy pricing

Melbourne Brisbane Cairns is 30 each way in economy, was looking not long ago and it was only $200 each way or thereabouts.
