The verdict is in.

In my opinion, there is a reason why platinum members are directed to the Emirates Lounge.

Both lounge opens at 630pm (the night slot). The Emirates lounge is triple the size of the Etihad Lounge and the amenities and facilities beats Etihad hands down. The Emirates crew were so nice and friendly. They had 3 showers per sex and in total, there was probably 10 people in the lounge the whole time. The staff easily outnumbers the guests. Again, so nice and friendly.

I popped over to Etihad lounge to 'have a look'. Take what I written for Emirates and flip it upside down- That's the Etihad lounge for you! I stayed there for 3 minutes and popped back to the Emirates lounge 'Welcome back'.

This is a great win for Virgin Australia Platinum members. Now, don't lose it VA!

Thanks Jorge, a definite win for VA Platinums and at least Golds are now accommodated as well.  But it is interesting Qantas Frequent Flyers can't access this lounge themselves despite being an Emirates partner.  Slightly amusing I guess.

Ignore my question - just read the AusBT article on this news. Good news for VA Plat's (and for Gold also, getting lounge access back - even if it is Etihad lounge only;)). Still can't help but feel Virgin is a bit of a laughing stock in the FF world though. Musical lounges happening atm!
