Using VA Silver Single Entry passes on arrival, or when not travelling?

Hi there, I have 2x VA single entry lounge passes from Silver status, however I will be reaching Gold soon and won't have much use for them. I just wanted to run these two hypothetical situations and see if any of them are viable.

1) Use them to guest friends in on arrival


I am flying business class SYD-PER, arriving in the evening. I'll have Gold status by then. Three of my friends are flying PER-MEL around the same time I arrive. Can I use my Gold access to guest one person in on-arrival, and use my 2x passes for the other two friends?


or

2) Use them even though I'm not travelling


My parents might fly PER-SYD in the near future, with no status/access. Although I won't be travelling, if I accompany them to the lounge, can I use my two passes to guest them in?

You'll never be able to use the passes when not traveling so you can rule that option out.


As for using them on arrival the T&C's say that they can be used as guest passes where the "member is entitled to access the lounge". 

As a Gold when using lounges on arrival your technically not entitled to lounge access on arrival (only Plats's are) and it's instead offered "subject to space availability" so be prepared to be knocked back but you may also be pleasantly surprised.

After pursuing their T's and C's more closely, I think it'll be worth a try.


Lounge Terms and Conditions: Velocity Gold Member and Velocity Platinum Member access

(h) Subject to space availability, Velocity Gold Members and each of their Invited Guests may access the lounge immediately upon arrival at their destination.

 

Velocity Terms and Conditions: 23.3.5 Complimentary Single Entry Lounge Passes are non-transferable and must be used either:

(a) by the Member; or

(b) where the Member is otherwise entitled to access the Virgin Australia Lounge, by a guest accompanying the Member into the Virgin Australia Lounge.
