AA - Business Aus-LAX, Economy to JFK on a Business redemption - upgrade priority?

If you remember I was trying to append a QF LAX-JFK on my AA redemption - actually had it added for it to be removed shortly thereafter.

Managed to scoop some economy seats for the LAX-JFK leg and append it to my existing award booking. On a business reward, 80,000 AA points Aus to USA (anywhere in USA). Its almost impossible that a MileSAAver business seat (or the 3 that i need) come up between now and May, but wouldnt I be top of the upgrade list since i effectively have paid for a business seat on the LAX-JFK leg? From what i hear, they simply dont release business inventory on MileSAAver LAX-JFK but should there be empty seats on the day, we should be top of the list? thoughts!?

If you paid for it, your position on the upgrade list will depend on your status and fare you booked.

If you got a redemption, you will not make it to the upgrade list at all. Redemption bookings are not upgradeable, regardless of other segments on your trip.
