Hi everyone

I am going to be flying business class Melbourne via HK with Cathay pacific - redeemed through Asia miles and then in another single ticket - Hong Kong to Taiwan flying Cathay pacific economy award seats redeemed with qantas QFF. This is all same day with about 3hrs overlay in Hk Airport.

Now they are all single one way tickets that I redeemed through points but I am flying Cathay pacific all the way. Given the HK leg in business is 9hrs or so which is the longer international leg and the hk to Taiwan is 1.5hrs but in economy. Do you know if I will still be able to access business lounge with my business class ticket when I am in HK for he 3hr overlay ?

I have heard that even if you are in economy provided it’s the same day and the international leg is the longer leg in business you can still access Cathay pacific business lounges at Hk. But I am not sure if this applies to only if it’s connecting flights not single one way tickets.

Thanks in advance!

OneWorld rules say yes

Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:
  • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).
  • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
  • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass or itinerary showing travel in First or Business class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight
Shouldn't matter how they are ticketed.

Thanks!

This may be dumb question so to get access to the Hk lounges, do I just show my business class ticket/boarding pass plus ticket and itinery for hk to TPE to the lounges in Hk (which shows mel to Hk in business) when I arrive or when I check in at melb at the start of my journey and get them to issue me with the lounge passes at HK airport ?

Thank you !
