hi all;

Platinum VA here - not much international travel, all domestic.

Keen to understand something re BA and Qantas lounges.

i am Qantas FF, Red (i know - work uses Virging for all domestic travel). I can get Qantas lounge passes via my credit card provider. I am curios to know, from my research BA use Qantas lounge in SYD. I am not BA member, but OneWorld thru QFF.

If i took advantage of these passes, can i still enter on a BA ticket, or must if be a code share Qantas/BA flight ?

Thanks,

mannej

If you book the BA flight and flight number, a complimentary pass will not get you access.

Correct - you'll only get access when your next onward flight is on a Qantas or Jetstar flight number, including codeshare flights operated by other airlines. A BA flight number isn't a Qantas or Jetstar flight number, so no access from the lounge passes.

Qantas don't codeshare with BA out of Sydney (only Iberia and Finnair does) and they only codeshare on a select number of flight between London and European destinations (they tend to be ones not serviced by Emirates with a few exceptions).

If you can find BA operated QF coded flight (such as to Budapest) that leaves London Heathrow Terminal 3 then it might be possible to use the pass at the Qantas Lounge London but otherwise, you're a bit out of luck.

Obviously the pass can be used on Qantas or Jetstar operated and marketed flights but also on flights marketed by Qantas and operated by codeshare partners including (these are codeshare partners bookable via the Qantas website operating from Sydney): Emirates, Fiji Airways, Asiana Airlines, China Southern Airlines, American Airlines, Air Vanuatu, China Eastern Airlines, LATAM, Air Calin, Air Niugini

Also depends on the class of travel.

thanks all for the comments.

TBH when i booked the travel (for the family - 6 weeks in europe), i had my BA Platinum, but it seemed too expensive to find something that would allow me to take advantage of lounge etc...

On a related topic - as its not a Qantas/BA code share - i am guessing accruing points/sc to Qantas FF account is also out of the question.

You will earn Points and SC on QFF provided you book within one of the listed eligible fare classes
