I recently purchased return HKG-LHR directly through VS website (in HKD, even though I made the purchase in AUS). Booked Economy Delight (V) for a few inches of space (economy X equivalent). Apfter purchase I checked VA website and V class was not recognised as collecting VA points or SC. Panic!
Didn't need to worry. Three days after the flight, 160 SCs per leg were credited to my account. That's J class rates. Also received 1.5x points due to V class so 18K points and 320 SCs for HKG-LHR return, approximately $1,300AUD.
defnitely without bonus, would be the cheapest. BUT with bonus to new zealand, you could get business sale fares to christchurch for a bit less than what you got per status point. However, excellent find and will difinitely take advantage of this.
You have the Midas touch Gareth, on flights booked through VA's web site, I flew Business full fare on LAX-LHR in late October, then LHR-HKG in early November (did I mention I bought those full fare Business?) and am still waiting for the 320 SCs due to me. Calls to VA get met with promises of arrival before Christmas Day. What really annoys, is had I flown QF I'd already be a Platinum member by now.
