I had a previous thread asking for advice on the amex platinum that proved very helpful.

I've decided that I'm going to sign up and just wondering if there is a best time of year to do this in terms of costs and sign up bonuses, I'm particularly mindful of the big changes about to kick in with points redemptions etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Will

The current 80,000-point offer is close to being as good as it gets - occasionally it goes up to the ~100k mark, however, it remains to be seen what happens after mid-April when the value of MR points is cut in half: whether AMEX will double the number of MR points on offer to provide the same 'value' (e.g. 160,000 MR points = 80,000 frequent flyer points from mid-April), whether the offer will remain the same and therefore the 'value' drops down, or something in between.

Apply via CPA. Will get you more bonus points. And $1200 annual fees. Yes it does work.

I believe that's for union members only?

CPA affinity cards are only available to CPA members. We've removed the link as affinity cards are intended for a specific membership only, not the general population.
