any similarity in the systems between the 737max and the qantas 737-800 that flies syd-bne ?
The 737-800 model commonly used by Qantas and Virgin Australia is an older generation of the 737 family and thus not fitted with the new anti-stall (MCAS) system that is widely believed to be a key factor in recent 737 MAX crashes.
If Australia has
temporarily suspended the Max 8 why is Fiji still operating the Max 8 out of
Sydney?
CASA banned these last night and they specifically mentioned both Silk Air and Fiji Airways on their twitter handle.
That Fiji Airways 737 MAX aircraft flew back to Nadi from Sydney without passengers. Only Pilots were onboard. Latest information is that Fiji Airways and Silk Air have now decided to ground their 737 MAX aircraft out of precaution pending further information from the incident investigation.

Bloomberg reports there are 96 approx 737 Max 8 aircraft operated domestically in China. All are grounded, but schedule disruptions should be minimal.

Would be a brave person who chooses to fly on a 737-8 MAX at the moment...

From what I have read, Australian pilots aren’t worried. Having said that, no Australian Airline currently flies the 737 Max.
