Priority security lane might be open, or might be closed, its hard to say.
All depends.
With the new entrance, every now enters the same door near where the old semi circular food court in the open zone is, used to be the frosted doors, now its all different.
I think that the Qantas international business lounge is the only one, you could try the Emirates lounge, you might get a no, or the lounge might be closed when you go through.
If I remember correctly, it was mentioned either on here or AFF that if a person was Qantas Gold, they could use the Emirates lounge if flying Qantas, but not 100% sure.
You left it a bit late to ask on here or on AFF.
If you do read this, try the Emirates lounge anyway.
When I did the Melbourne-Auckland, in business, some people went to do the Emirates lounge, but they in the end came back to the "basement" where the Qantas international business lounge is, guess they got knocked back.
Acronyms in the question, and answers, have been replaced with 'real words': this helps all
readers understand what's being asked and said.
We ask users to avoid
abbreviations like 'J', 'Y' and so on, because your average person
doesn't know what those letters mean, nor will they understand more contrived acronyms like 'SG'.
I was issued with a priority slip when I checked in, but I didn't see any separation between passengers with priority and those without. The new "smart" security system at MEL works brilliantly as they have figured out a way to allow people who are faster at following the screening procedures to get through much quicker without any of the slower people getting upset because someone has skipped in front of them. Works brilliantly. It took me 20 minutes from kerbside to terminal entry.
Discovered that baggage drop closes 60 mins before departure.
Tried the Emirates Lounge but they were closed. My flight departed from gate 11 (adjacent to Qantas First Lounge) and decided that I would attempt to gain access. As the elevator rose from the ground floor upwards I decided to be bold and ask the gentlemen if he was using the First lounge. I showed him my boarding pass, told him that I was flying Business and politely asked him if I could enter the First lounge as his guest. I assume he is a familiar face, as he abandoned me as we walked in. The woman at the desk asked me if I was traveling with him and I said yes. She then asked me what his name was and with quick thinking, I said "I used to go to school with his son." She asked me what his surname was. I thought I was destined for the Basement. I replied without even thinking it through and said: "It was a long time ago and he had a nickname." She hesitated for a moment as the gentleman had already passed through the doors." She looked at my boarding pass and to my utter astonishment, she welcomed me into the lounge.
It was a really delightful treat. I had just enough time to have a delicious breakfast a la carte. What a different world this place is compared to the Business lounge!

Good evening folks.
Tomorrow morning I am flying business class with Qantas to Auckland. I have a few questions.
1. What is the latest check in time? (is it really 90 mins?)
2. Is there a priority lane for security or customs?
3. Are there any lounges I can use other than QF Intl J lounge?
Thanks

Emirates lounge admits Qantas Gold and Platinum as well as business class passengers flying QF. But this depends on lounge capacity.

Story not made up. I personally don't care if people don't believe the story.
