Hi All,

We are currently planning a to go to India for a wedding, not a country I've been to before so I'm not familiar with routing, earn rates etc, however in most instances the status earn shown in my dummy bookings do not match the earn rate shown in the calculator for the same routes/fares.

For example Sydney - Hong Kong - Mumbai shows the same SC earn if the flights are QF 127 - CX 663, or QF 127 - QF 8247 (Which is the codeshare on CX663) I would expect the second set of flights to show more SC earn given the QF flight number. Similarly, my dummy booking displays wildly different SC earn rates for flying via Singapore and Colombo than what the calculator shows.

I checked the ITA matrix for the fare codes, so I'm (relatively) confident I have been selecting the correct fare types when using the QF calculator. This is why I'm questioning which to believe the Calculator, or the SC shown in my dummy bookings.

Does anyone have experience when there has been a disparity between the SC earn shown on the QF calculator, the earn shown when booking, and the final outcome in their FF account? I'd prefer to avoid any negative surprises early next year as it will be nearing the end of my QF year and I don't really want to be having to chase SC's at that point - either thorugh claiming or to fly more at the last minute to re-qualify for my status.

Any feedback would be appreciated, Thanks.

Happy Trails

Maybe try the tables - they should be accurate.

I've noticed something similar too. I fly a lot to India (at least 5 times every year) and I see that ;

1. Sometimes I get more SC than what the calculator shows. For eg : SYD-HKG-MAA-HKG-SYD on QF127/8255/8250/128 gives 120 SC when looking for flights and gives around 135 SC on the Confirm page

2. Sometimes I get 120 SC when I'm not logged in, but changes to 135 when I log in to my QFF profile

3. Sometimes I get the same number of SC regardless of whether I'm logged in or not

In cases where I saw additional SC, I've always got the additional SC in my activity
In cases where I book with a QF number instead of CX (in this case), I've got additional 10 SC

I'm doing a trip to India in Sept via CMB and I got 160 SC instead of 150 as the flight from SIN-CMB was on QF and not UL

If you've got doubts, do call the QFF CC and ask them to confirm the number of SC's earned. I did this for my trip via CMB and the agent was able to confirm the number of SC

Thanks for the advice, interesting that being logged in or not produced different SC earn too. Looks like I'll be best to give them a buzz prior to booking just to be sure.

The logged on relates to your FF status which shouldn’t affect SCs but does affect points.
