I'm travelling from AKL to MEL in business class on Emirates. I have a friend who is travelling on the same flight but in economy. Obviously I get Emirates lounge access in AKL for myself. Can I also take my friend (it doesn't appear so)?
The perplexing thing is if I was going the other way (ie MEL - AKL) then it seems I can at least access the Qantas International Business Lounge with a friend as I hold QFF Gold, but not the reverse...have I missed something?

i know the trans-tasman routes arent part of the code-share/alliance, but you could try getting into the Qantas lounge in AKL
