Did you book the flights while you were Silver by any chance? I've flown Etihad and had my BP list Silver for VA when I was Gold. I did a bit of research and found out others had similar issues and it was showing the status they had when they initially booked the flight, not the status they had when checking in. I resolved this by having the check in person take my number off the booking and put it back on.
It is highly likely you have not met the spending amount threshold of $10,000 to $15,000 but met the requirement in qualifying elite miles. This is about to change.

Hi all
I am a KrisFlyer Elite Gold with Singapore Airline. However every time I fly Virgin Australia my boarding pass recognises me at their Silver tier.
I am wondering if anyone else faces this and would know why this is happening?

I’ve been gold for over 3 years now so even while booking I was a gold member. It really baffles me why this would happen
