Re: Virgin Atlantic - SYD-LHR.

For a personal trip am looking at booking flights with VS for Velocity Points/Status. Does anyone know whether VS still allow you to buy an upgrade on the day to a class up pending availability? (and how much?) Flight is in August. Thanks, Mike :-)

It's very hard to do this on points - almost all redemption seats will have gone on the LHR-HKG route as it is so full.

You're better off actually buying in cash an upgrade at checkin. Plain economy to premium economy is 295GBP. There are big posters at London Heathrow advertising it. You get the full VS (or VA) miles for the upgrade.

Virgin don't publish a price list, but you can see it on this website, with details of how to do it.  http://www.airreview.com/Virgin/Tips.htm#buyupgrade
