I am a gold member of virgin velocity ff. I had qualified with 1020 status credits to upgrade to platinum but was 2 sectors short, although I was planning 2 trips next week. 4 days ago my status credits drop back to 45 as the 12 months since received hit. I have sent a email to virgin asking for some discretion. What do you think my chances are?

What do you think my chances are for getting an upgrade to platinum? I have sent an email asking for some discretion so we shall see how I go.

I suspect the discretion will be limited given, as you had not done the required sectors, you have been flying more on Virgin partners than on Virgin Australia.

As it is, without a Platinum/Business lounge, there is not a massive difference between Gold and Plat on Virgin.

Agreed there is hardly any difference. I noticed that Gold members also have the "fly ahead" perk which i rate highly when flying domestic. QF always gives me a hard time when I ask in the business lounge to be put on an earlier flight, they always check fare classes and if not available in your original booking you are stuffed.

I guess the complimentary Hertz President's Circle and Hilton Honors or Priority Club top tier membership is a useful perk, other than that you do get the fare upgrades but they can only be applied to flex fares and this is costly most of the times (worth it flying to Perth IMO though)
