Garuda Indonesia is improving the checked baggage allowance for customers across all cabin classes, with travellers set to receive an additional 10kg across the airline’s global network.
The changes take place immediately, mirroring the allowances already provided on flights to and from Australia.
“While this allowance has been available for our Australian passengers for a number of months, it is important that we offer the same allowance across our whole network”, notes Uun Setiawan, Garuda Indonesia’s newly appointed Vice President for Australia/South West Pacific.
The new limits are 30kg for economy class, 40kg for business class, and 50kg for first class – mirroring that of Singapore Airlines.
In addition, the airline provides an additional allowance of 23kg per passenger for sporting equipment – including surfboards, golf clubs or diving gear – at no extra charge.
Furthermore, Platinum-grade members of Garuda Frequent Flyer continue to enjoy an additional allowance of 20kg above the published limits, as do members holding a GIC Card.
In the same way, Gold and EC Plus members retain their supplementary 15kg allowances, as do Silver members with their allowance of an additional 5kg.
