Singapore Airlines boosts baggage allowance

Singapore Airlines boosts baggage allowance

Singapore Airlines is boosting its checked luggage allowance on all flights and across all classes, from the cheapest economy seats to the high-end luxury suites.

The changes, which come into effect from 15 November travellers, also apply to SQ's regional offshoot SilkAir.

Checked baggage allowances will increase by 10kg across the board, which will undoubtedly come in handy for travellers returning from Singapore with all that shopping in tow.

The new limits are 30kg for economy class, 40kg in business class and 50kg in first class and suites.

For Singapore Airlines flights to and from the United States, where luggage is judged on a per-piece system rather than weight, passengers booked in suites, first class and business class will be able to check in two pieces of luggage of up to 32kg each, compared to a previous 23kg.

On top of that, KrisFlyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Gold members will continue to enjoy an additional 20kg of baggage allowance across all travel classes (or one extra piece of checked-in baggage when travelling to or from the United States).

Likewise, PPS Club members will continue to be entitled to double the checked-in baggage allowance in their respective class of travel.

Here's a full table of the new checked luggage allowances.
