Marriott Rewards MegaBonus 2012: score a free night for each stay

Here’s a quick way for business travellers to pocket a few free nights at a Marriott hotel property.

The chain’s MegaBonus 2012 promotion lets Marriott Rewards members earn one free night for each stay at a Marriott hotel to the end of April.

This includes JW Marriott, Courtyard, Residence and Renaissance properties as well as stays at The Ritz-Carlton.

The promo is capped at two free nights, which can be redeemed at any of Marriott’s almost 3,000 “category 1 - 4 hotels”.

There are, however, a few caveats to this deal.

  1. You have to register for the MegaBonus 2012 promotion. However, as long as you’ve registered, all stays made from February 1 to April 30 will count retroactively.
  2. There’s no ‘double dipping’ to earn frequent flyer miles along with Marriott Rewards for each stay. According to the rules, “members electing to earn airline miles are not eligible for this promotion, but may change their earning preference from miles to points”.
  3. Your free MegaBonus nights must be used by September 30, 2012 or they’ll vanish into the same neverland where all unclaimed points and rewards go.
