The British Airways iPhone app is pretty much your standard airline smartphone app, with the BA timetable plus information about your upcoming flight and Executive Club frequent flyer account.
One thing it doesn't do is let you calculate how many miles and tier points you'll earn on any given flight, and that's where the aptly-named BA Miles Calculator steps in.
The BA Miles Calculator allows Executive Club members to plug in any route and get an instant assessment of its point-earning worth, based on what class of travel you're in as well as your Executive Club status.
It can handle multi-segment trips and also recognises and adjusts for flights with a BA-Oneworld partner such as Qantas or Cathay Pacific.
The app is a sibling to the Frequent Flyer Calculator for Qantas – in fact, it's built on the same engine – although unlike the Qantas equivalent there's no free version, only the paid-for £1.19 'First Class' edition.
Australian Business Traveller regularly drills into frequent flyer point earning tips and strategies, the best ways to burn them once earned, and how to extract the most value from frequent flyer memberships.
