New Trunkster bag packs in GPS tracking, scale, USB charger

Losing your luggage will soon become a thing of the past, with America’s Trunkster brand unveiling bags with built-in GPS tracking, USB charging and even a baggage scale in the handle.
Available in carry-on and checked sizes and set to hit the shelves in 2015, the bags’ contents can be accessed via a sliding door in lieu of traditional zippers – perfect if you’re stuck in economy and space is limited.
The USB charger, while only available for the carry-on bag, is removable to allow batteries to be easily replenished, while spinner wheels on the base allow the bag to move in all directions.
Tucked away inside is a hidden compartment for travel essentials such as your passport, pens and mobile phone charges – reducing the risk of these items disappearing should you accidentally leave your bag unlocked.
Both the checked and carry-on sizes have a TSA-approved combination lock, allowing the bag to be locked when it’s checked in, yet allowing the USA security authorities to open the bag for inspection where required without damaging the locking mechanism.
Weighing in at 3.58kg and 4.49kg for the carry-on and checked versions, respectively, it’s a little on the heavy side – so Aussie travellers will need to use the bag's built-in scale to ensure that it meets their airline’s requirements when fully-loaded.
Trunkster’s new bags are expected to hit the shelves in August 2015, although prospective buyers can pre-order at a significant discount via the company’s page.

Not sure what zipperless entry means. Its funny because my luggage from 10-15 years ago never used zippers but nowadays they all use zippers, which takes longer to open/close.
It seems over enginneered and better in theory than practice. Its so easy to carry around a portable battery for your iphone nowadays, rather than one than only works with your luggage. And if you really care about the weight of your luggage you can use buy a weigh that you can use to weigh any piece of luggage easily, requiring no batteries, and can be left at home rather than perpetually increasing the weight of your luggage.

But its a whole kg heavier than my Carry-ons. Nice idea, poorly executed..
