Delta is going daily on Melbourne-LAX flights

Barely three months after Delta Air Lines launched direct flights between Melbourne and Los Angeles, the SkyTeam member has revealed plans to steadily increase those flights to a daily service. 

Delta’s current thrice-weekly flights will continue through to October, at which point they uplift to four days (October 13) and then five days (October 27) per week, a Delta spokesperson confirmed to Executive Traveller.

From December 22 they’ll be boosted to the convenience of a daily schedule.

Delta is stepping up to daily Melbourne-LAX flights.

That daily timetable will remain in place to the end of March 2027, at which point it will toggle back to a steady five days per week.

The 15-hour flights are undertaken by Delta’s modern Airbus A350 – the only A350 on this trans-Pacific route, compared to the Boeing 787-9s of Qantas and United Airlines.

And this is Delta’s premium skew of the A350, boasting a larger business class cabin of 40 doored Delta One suites, up from the standard 32 berths.

Each Delta A350 now carries 40 Delta One suites.

Those 40 suites are matched by 40 Delta Premium Select recliners, with a 38” pitch, in their own cabin.

“We’ve seen tremendous growth and demand for premium travel, for enhanced comfort and a better experience,” noted Rob LeBel, Delta’s Managing Director for International & Specialty Sales.

“It seems like consumers are setting aside a higher percentage of their dollars to spend on travel versus in the past,” LeBel told Executive Traveller last year. 

“We’ve especially seen tremendously strong demand for Premium Select.”

Delta Premium Select continues to be a popular choice.

The Premium Select recliners “provide a nice cost-point” for holiday-makers and also for business travellers on a strict budget, who still want to arrive “more relaxed and refreshed.”

And despite the surge in online video meetings forced by the pandemic, “there’s no substitute for seeing your customers in person and building those relationships.”

Ahead of their return home from Los Angeles, business class passengers can look forward to private check-in and dedicated security screening at Delta’s LAX Sky Way hub, followed by a visit to the upmarket Delta One lounge.
