Hilton Honors Gold, Diamond status match for 2026-2027

Want to enjoy perks such as free breakfast, room upgrades, and access to executive lounges at hotels like Hilton, Conrad and DoubleTree by Hilton?

Then get onto the fast track to Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond status with the Hilton Honors status match promotion.

And with just a little bit of planning ahead, the Hilton Honors status match unlocks elite Gold or Diamond status all the way through to March 2028.

Hilton Honors 2026 status match: what you need to know

  • To qualify for the Hilton Honors status match you’ll need to already hold equivalent status to Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond with another competing hotel loyalty program (see our list below)
  • If your application to the Hilton Honors status match is successful, you’ll be given an instant 90 days of Hilton Honors Gold status so you can immediately begin to enjoy the benefits of that status
  • Within that 90-day period, stay just six nights at any Hilton property and your Hilton Honors Gold status will be locked in until March 31, 2028
  • Even better: if you stay 12 nights at any Hilton property within that same 90-day period, you’ll be elevated to Hilton Honors Diamond status through to March 31, 2028

Hilton Honors 2026 status match: who is eligible?

First up, you’ll also need to belong to the Hilton Honors program – click here to join for free.

You’ll also need to hold equivalent status with a competing hotel group.

Hilton lists the following competing loyalty programs and tiers as being eligible for the Hilton Honors status match:

  • Accor All: Gold, Platinum, Diamond
  • Marriott Bonvoy: Gold, Platinum, Titanium, Ambassador
  • World of Hyatt: Explorist, Globalist, Lifetime Globalist
  • IHG One Rewards: Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Diamond Elite (note that the Hilton website still lists this option under the old IHG Rewards Club name and also includes those older tier names of Gold, Spire and Platinum)
  • Radisson Rewards: VIP, Premium
  • Best Western Rewards: Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Diamond Select
  • Choice Privileges: Gold, Platinum, Diamond
  • Wyndham Rewards: Diamond

Even if you already hold Hilton Honors Silver status, a higher level of membership in a competing hotel loyalty program will get your Hilton Honors status match underway.

But if you already hold Hilton Honors Gold status, you can’t take part in this status match to easily catapult your way to Diamond.

Also, Hilton Honors members who have previously been granted a status match may find themselves ineligible for this second shot.

Hilton Honors 2026 status match: how can I apply?

If you’re already a member of Hilton Honors, click to the Hilton Honors status match page and be ready to upload proof of your status with the nominated competing loyalty program and “proof of a recent stay” with that competitor.

Applicants for the Hilton status match should allow for anywhere from 7–24 business days to have their status match granted – and once that happens, the clock starts ticking on your 90-day trial period.

This means the optimal time to apply for the status match is around 3–4 weeks before your next trip and potential Hilton stay.

Importantly, those Hilton stays must be booked directly through Hilton or the hotel, or with a travel agent with a physical ‘real world’ presence, including company travel managers.

Stays reserved through other online booking sites – such as Expedia and Wotif – don’t count towards this status match.

The top perks of Hilton Honors Gold status

Your 90-day Hilton Honors status challenge period kicks off with instant Hilton Honors Gold status, and that’s a pretty appealing place to start.

Some of those gilded Hilton Gold benefits you’ll enjoy include:

  • room upgrades, subject to availability
  • US$25 daily food and beverage credit (at properties inside the US)
  • complimentary continental breakfast (at properties outside the US)
  • earn 18 Hilton Honors points per US$1 spent (at most Hilton group properties)

We should also note that you can automatically receive Hilton Honors Gold status if you hold Virgin Australia Velocity Gold status (while Velocity Platinums automatically qualify for Hilton Honors Diamond), as well as through an American Express Platinum Card.

Within that 90-day period, stay just six nights at any Hilton property and your Hilton Honors Gold status will be locked in until March 31, 2028

The top perks of Hilton Honors Diamond status

If you set your sights on Hilton Honors Diamond status by clocking up just 12 nights during the 90-day Hilton Honors status challenge period, you’ll be in line for all those Gold benefits listed above, and additional benefits such as:

  • room upgrades, subject to availability (and you’ll be at the very front of the queue for those upgrades)
  • complimentary breakfast
  • access to the executive lounge (at any Hilton group hotel which has a lounge)
  • earn 20 Hilton Honors points per US$1 spent (at most Hilton group properties)
  • free higher-speed Wi-Fi
  • the ability to gift Gold status to any other Hilton Honors member

And again, that Hilton Honors Diamond status will be locked in until March 31, 2028.

Given that it usually takes 28 nights to reach Hilton Honors Gold and 42 nights for Diamond, the Hilton Honors status match promotion represents a fantastic fast track to obtaining Hilton Honors status.

Hilton doesn't have a match for IHG Diamond Elite - just the old tiers that were discontinued.

If only it worked! Denied any match from both Bonvoy Platinum and ALL platinum. They insisted on photos of physical cards rather than a screenshot of your status. Does anyone actually still issue cards? Also sent pictures of confirmed stays but still denied.

I can attest this works and is well worth the effort and initial outlay. A couple of years back I had Gold Accor, and went for the whole 12 nights challenge to achieve Diamond HH. As I write this, I am at Conrad Bali, which from my experience, is one of the more generous properties when it comes to HH Diamond upgrades (4 out of 5 stays here - been upgraded). Booked a lead-in room, and received a suite upgrade a day before arriving. Having said that, have stayed at Sydney Hilton at least 8 times, and never been given more than a token executive-level room upgrade. I'm sure all other hotel programs offer similar experiences too. I've had other great upgrade experiences, mainly throughout Asia, rather than Europe and especially USA where you might as well have no status! I do feel I've well and truly had my money's worth from that initial 'investment'. I doubt I'll achieve the required stays this time around, and that's fine. I'm looking to try another program anyway. But this was well worth the ride.

So to be clear, if you're (for example) Bonvoy Gold your starting point is exactly the same as Bonvoy Ambassador Elite? That doesn't seem to make sense. Surely a top status should have you fast tracking to the equivalent with fewer days? i.e Bonvoy Gold -> HH Gold = 6nights vs Bonvoy Ambassador Elite -> HH Diamond = 6 nights....just my pov.
