Uber is following the lead of airlines and hotels by introducing status extensions for all Uber Rewards members worldwide, regardless of how many – or more likely, how few - rides they take during the coronavirus clamp-down.
An Uber spokesman confirmed the six-month status extension to Executive Traveller, with riders to receive their status extensions over the coming days.
Uber Rewards tiers are determined every six months, by assessing how many Uber Rewards points a member has racked up within that period by spending on Uber rides and Uber Eats deliveries.
However, Uber will this week issue six-month tier extensions to Uber Rewards Gold, Platinum and Diamond members with a qualifying period ending between April 1 and May 31, allowing them to retain their status and perks until as late as November 2020.
Executive Traveller understands that the status extension program will be evaluated on an ongoing basis as the renewal window for members with a June reset date draws closer.
