Priority Club rewards programme changes: what's new for Australians?

Priority Club, the hotel loyalty rewards programme for InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and other IHG hotels, has been revamped -- but don't get excited, as there's precious little in this for Australian members.

In fact, at the end of the day, even US members (who enjoy the most new options) don't get much that will interest the business traveller.

US hotel loyalty programme specialist Ric Garrido has a full analysis, delving deeply into the announcement and what it means for his readers.

Since many of the changes don't apply to the Asia-Pacific membership (which counts Australia among its countries), the only change of interest is a Monday email special.

Just in case you don't already have enough email to deal with on a Monday, Priority Club will send out a "Last Minute Reward Nights" email with a list of hotels where stays are 50% off if paid with points the following weekends. It'll only be once a month at first, though.

At least all members will receive a new membership card with an updated logo and a soothing seaside view.

(And no, this one isn't an April Fool's Day story.)
