As a VA Plat and UA 1K this looks like a good start ( and btw seriously exceeds most US domestic F class, including lounges). If one sets expectations per the price point ( or vs Jetstar) then its a solid offering. VA needs to get its game on.

As a VA Plat I was often underwhelmed by the J catering, particularly the day that fruit scones and cream (fruit!) was the only offering on three consecutive flights.Even Marks & Sparks pre packs would be a better option.Seriously though, David this is a great suggestion that VA should look at.

Personally I'm a fan of China Air, but the Sydney Sky Team lounge is poor. Am hoping that Starlux ( the latest Taiwanese carrier) adds Australia to its growing route network.

Fly Air Canada as its always better than UA and credit your miles to Mileage Plus ( I'm Oz based, but been a member for 30 years).If your Canadian destinations are West Coast, then Alaska Air and its mileage program wins hands down.Peter
