• Flying withing Australia, I'm almost at the point where I'd pay specifically to not access a lounge. Qantas Clubs, Qantas Regional Lounges and the Virgin Lounges are just always packed and fairly unpleasant. Qantas Business lounges are still largely pretty decent at least.

  • I've always been a firm believer that business class only works as a complete package - if the goal is to get you to your destination well-rested and with minimal interruptions.Sometimes a lounge is the most important part - a place to eat and fill up so you can just conk out on the flight.

  • Comfort food always does well, and it should be an option. I would be very happy if there was a good burger served in the air on in the lounge, though I've yet to have one. A big greasy burger after being stuck in rural Chad eating brown fish for 2 weeks is much more appreciated than champagne an...

  • I stopped being loyal to any given airline post COVID, and I'm glad I made that choice (turns out I fly enough to hold statud on a few).I've never actually had bad luck with redemption - I had to fly over Christmas time last-minute from Mexico to Australia, and options were available in all cabin...

  • I have left many frequent flyer programs due to them switching to a spend based model because it’s always turned out worse for me. I don’t even really care about status, I just hate that it’s based on what you spend depending on how frequently you fly - which is the whole concep...

    Oct 30, 2024, 01:47 PM

It's not really being replaced by A220s. Not yet at least. I flew the 717 a lot, and more often then not now I'm on an Embraer 190. Sometimes a Dash 8.

  • I've always thought having accounts in foreign currency is unnecessary for travel - Up, ING, Bankwest etc. all offer transaction accounts that have no foreign exchange fees and at close to the wholesale rate. The only reason not to use an AUD account is if you want to lock in an exchange rate well...

    Feb 10, 2024, 01:06 PM

Hi all,I'm in the process of applying for a new Chinese visa (L - Tourism). I know Australia reached an agreement with China to allow 5-year multi-entry visas, however as far as I can tell that has not been implemented.I asked the visa center via email and they just responded with a link to the a...

  • Which SkyTeam FF Program to use?

    Dec 12, 2023, 02:59 PM

I had major issues with Delta SkyMiles earlier this year. None of my flights on Aeromexico credited automatically and it took many months for them to credit it after I filed multiples requests. Then they credited it at the economy rate instead of business. So I moved over to Air France/KLM flying ...
