One lesson learnt in all this is never use a Travel Agent again for any flights. Having to deal through them rather than directly with Qantas makes a difficult situation a nightmare

The status extension is significant and just because you are not a regular flyer you can still have a status upgrade plan as I did this year. DSC suits a certain group as you say . Even if the promotion covered my flights at present they would cost about $5000 Bne-NYC return in PE whereas on sale closer to about $3500 . Not sure extra 250 SCs are worth that as not really a frequent flyer to take full advantage of Gold FF the extra SCs ...

After 5 different “operators” over 10 hrs of open chat message the last one simply said “yep can fix that” and it was changed within 5 mins. Lesson learnt anyway and all good now
