Qantas is essentially making up for the lack of Classic Rewards seats available by now magically offering seats but at a much higher points requirement with Classic Plus.  Am I surprised - no... just an attempt to reduce their points liability by a new CEO who was CFO...

Thai is filling that gap left by the decision by Qantas to exit direct routes into BKK.  And Jetstar isnt a like for like comparison.   

Have always found the 3 non Qantas lounges operated by Qatar, Cathay and Emirates deliver amazing service.  Though I just did a price check from MEL and Thai offers 2 direct services a day direct to BKK for at least $1k less than Qantas or Singapore.  So why would you go via Sydney...
