Hi - Plat QFF. Flying through Singapore.

Arriving T1 on qantas and departting T4 Jetstar Asia but QF ticketed flight number. Got a 2hr transit.

Any timing advice for lounging in T1 and then moving? Anyone done it?

Cheers

Jetstar Asia is now T4. Due to the fact that T4 is bus connected rather than Skytrain, I would be very careful with the Qantas lounge time spent in T1. There is a Cathay lounge in T4 but Jetstar passengers don’t get access.

As a general rule for me, if departing the same terminal I leave the lounge around an hour before flight departure due to the walk time and length of security lines that can be found at the gates. Add another 10 or 15 minutes if changing terminals by Skytrain. The T4 bus connection? Been a while.

Yes as mentioned from first hand recent experience you cant get into a decent Lounge in T4 when you are going Jetstar. By the time you get off the incoming QF flight, transit and the strict boarding times Jetstar have, you dont have time to relax in a T1 lounge. Having said that, the T4 terminal is very good. I'd suggest grabbing something from one of the cafes and relaxing.

Transfer between T1 to T4 can be a pain - the bus journey itself is around 18-20 minutes plus waiting time (not sure how frequent it is, but I normally wait between 10-15 minutes) plus walking to the gate. T4 uses centralised security check, so once you arrive at T4 you will need to go through security (very few people from my experiences) and then can go straight to the gate for boarding.

On my last trip, I left Qantas first lounge around 90 minutes before scheduled departure time.

Given you only have 2 hours in between flights, and depending how quick you can get out from the plane at T1, you might have at best 15 mins or so at the lounge?

On a separate note, I am still wondering why Changi airport mangaement didn't think to make a better connection between T1-T2-T3 and T4. Its "neighbor" airport at Kuala Lumpur has almost non-stop busses zipping passengers from Main terminal to Satellite constantly (granted they have a lot more passengers transiting back and forth between the two terminals). I can only hope the new terminal 5 will have better transit experience.
