I find the Amex online version via VirginAustralia as good, no commission and ability to pick up at any local post office.

You know if either airline really wanted to stand out over the other one - they would allow people to keep their higher level ff status for life, not just 12 months. eg: reach silver and stay at silver until you reach gold, then stay on that.
