Virgin Australia adds more daily flights to Gladstone

IN BRIEF | Virgin Australia will add two daily return flights between Brisbane and Gladstone from May 28, bringing the total number of flights between the two cities to 58 on the airline’s fleet of ATR turboprop aircraft.

The new flights are

  • a mid-morning service, departing Brisbane at 8.50am for arrival into Gladstone at 10.10am (with the return from Gladstone at 10.40am, touching down at Brisbane at 12 noon);
  • and an evening service, which departs Brisbane at 5.50pm for wheels-down at Gladstone at 7.10pm, then turns around to become Virgin's last flight from Gladstone at 7.40pm, reaching Brisbane at 9pm.

“Having commenced these ATR services late last year it is very pleasing to see such a positive response to the introduction of competition to the route" McArthur says. "Connection times in Brisbane also mean that our Guests can connect to our domestic and international services or onto partner airlines."

McArthur added that with more than 200 ATR flights each week within Queensland, the ACT and New South Wales, "the ATR is proving to be an extremely popular aircraft across our network”.
