Virgin Australia begins Brisbane-Port Macquarie flights

IN BRIEF | Virgin Australia's daily shuttle service between Brisbane and Port Macquarie begins today as the airline continues to beef up its regional presence.

DJ1766 departs Brisbane at 10am, arriving in Port Macquarie at 12.25pm – it's actually just a 1.5 hour trip, but the difference in summer time between Queensland and NSW 'adds' an extra hour.

On the other hand, that time difference means that flight DJ1763 leaves Port Macquarie at 10.10am to land in Brisbane just 20 minutes later, at 10.30 am.

As with the new Brisbane-Gladstone service introduced earlier this week, the Brisbane-Port Macquarie run will rely on new ATR turbo-prop (turbine-driven propeller) aircraft which will soon also join the Capital Connect shuttle service between Sydney and Canberra.
