Virgin Australia gets festive with Christmas pudding, mince pies

Virgin Australia's putting some Christmas cheer into your pre-Christmas flying – and probably adding pre-Christmas pounds to your waistline – with traditional festive favourites at its lounges and on board domestic flights.

Visitors to Virgin's lounges will be tempted by Christmas puddings packed with vine fruits, aromatic spices "and a generous dose of brandy and stout", the airline promises.

The Luke Mangan-designs puds are already being served at Virgin Australia's Sydney lounge, and will appear in the Melbourne and Brisbane lounges "in coming weeks."

In the week leading up to Christmas, Virgin Australia will also be plating around mince pies in the business class cabin "of selected flights", while for December 25th the airline promises "Christmas lunch with all the trimmings."

“Every year we fly thousands of Australians domestically and internationally over the Christmas and New Year period," says Virgin Australia Group Executive Danielle Keighery, "and it is great to be delivering a range of special Christmas options to the menu during one of the busiest times of the year."

Virgin Australia also introduced a new Business Class menu earlier this week, which includes more choices of main meals and the introduction of ‘The Pantry’ which offers complimentary premium snacks throughout the flight.

The Pantry is available on flights of up to 6 hours and 30 minutes in duration.
