Virgin Australia starts business class to Sunshine Coast

IN BRIEF | Virgin Australia will add Queensland's Sunshine Coast to its business class network this month.

Starting May 30, selected flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Sunshine Coast Airport (located 10km north of Maroochydore) will be upgraded to include business class seats and service along with priority check-in and boarding.

The airline is kicking things off with a business class sale starting today with one-way fares at $399 from Sydney and $499 from Melbourne.

Virgin Australia says that year-round Sydney fares will commence at $489 one way, with Melbourne from $579.

Wednesday May 30 looks to be a busy day in Virgin's Queensland calendar, with the airline also opening its new Gold Coast Airport lounge that afternoon.

The Gold Coast lounge will seat around 135 travellers in 675 square metres of space, making it slightly smaller than its Brisbane sibling.
