British Airways is on a bit of a roll of late – we've seen the new Club Suites business class (due to take wing in August)...
... plus a first class refresh on the way for the Boeing 777s, Boeing 787-9s and Airbus A380s.
Now the Oneworld member has once again wielded the red ribbon and over-sized scissors to mark the debut of its new business class Club lounge at JFK Terminal 7.
It's the last round of the current £50 million investment program, although more's to come, with Geneva, San Francisco, Johannesburg and Chicago also on the slate.
“JFK airport is like a second home to Heathrow so it’s great to mark the final step in our significant customer investment with the opening of our new Club and First lounges," observes Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience.
"Every detail has been carefully designed and we’ve created a space to meet our customers’ needs – whether they want to relax and have a meal or enjoy a craft beer and catch up on the world news."
Sure to become the Club lounge's most recognisable and most popular feature, the granite-topped Quaich Bar – created in partnership with the Quaich bar at the Craigellachie Hotel in Speyside, Scotland – will see an experienced bartender serving a full range of fine wines and cocktails during peak times (for starters the airline suggests a Broadway Copper Cup, made with Copper Dog whisky, orange bitters and berries).
Complementing the Quaich Bar is the lounge's BrewDog craft beer room, where travellers can sample the Speedbird 100 beer designed specifically for British Airways (which will also be available on flights from May 1).
British Airways has up to twelve Transatlantic flights each day darting between New York and London, but many travellers choose to make the most of the relatively short seven hour journey by taking their lunch or dinner in the lounge and diving under the White Company bedding as soon as they can stretch out on the lie-flat Club World bed.
With that in mind, the JFK lounge also includes a 'brasserie-style dining room' where travellers can enjoy freshly prepared dishes from an extensive menu, as well as picking up a few smaller items from to the ‘grab and go’ selection.
The 22,000ft² (2,500m²) lounge has plenty of room to handle BA's bevy of business class passengers, Gold- and Silver-grade BAEC frequent flyers and their Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire equivalents, with relaxed sofa-style seating plus workstations, an entertainment room kitted out with Sony gear and an Elemis Spa where travellers can relax and recharge ahead of their trans-Atlantic trek.
BA's premium passengers can also speed through JFK Terminal 7 check-in thanks to an exclusive Premium Zone for Club World alongside First Wing and First check-in areas.
