Relax in Cathay Pacific’s The Wing first class Cabana suites
These private suites deliver a whole new level of pre-flight relaxation.

Stuck with a long stopover at Hong Kong airport, or have plenty of time before your flight?
Head to Cathay Pacific’s The Wing first class lounge and make a beeline for the private Cabana suites.
Sure, you can stop at The Champagne Lounge just past the entrance to The Wing First lounge and sink into a plush Chesterfield armchair while you sip some quality French bubbles (on our last visit, the ice bucket was stocked with Billecart-Salmon).
But you can also sink into a massive bath in one of the five fully-private Cabana suites secreted away further down the left side of The Wing lounge.
A luxurious signature hallmark of The Wing First lounge, they more closely resemble something from an up-market day spa than an airport lounge.
Each of Cathay’s first class Cabana suites boasts a spacious ‘rainforest’ shower and a deep long bath that’s ideal for a stress-relieving soak (just don’t forget to collect a towel from the reception desk where you book your Cabana suite).
There’s also a deep couch which almost doubles as a day bed if you’re in desperate need of sleep, although most travellers will need to uncomfortably curl up a bit.
Either way, the Cabanas aren’t suitable for a snooze: while you can dim the lights in the suite, there’s no way to turn off the piped music.
(Thankfully The Wing is a silent lounge without boarding calls, although you’ll still hear essential announcements such as a substantial flight delay or cancellation.)
Cathay’s The Wing First Cabana suites are perfect for chilling out between connections or handling extended waiting times due to those delays or cancelled flights.
To snare a Cabana suite at Cathay Pacific’s The Wing First lounge – indeed, to enter that lounge itself – you'll need to by flying first class with Cathay Pacific or a Oneworld partner, or hold top-tier Emerald-grade Oneworld status (such as Cathay Diamond or Qantas Frequent Flyer Platinum or Platinum One).
The Wing First lounge and its Cabana suites are open from 5.30am until 12.30am.
However, you can’t book a Cabana suite in advance, and all five Cabana suites are often in use during the busy morning and evening peak hours (in which case you can put your name on a waiting list until one becomes available).
And how long can you stay tucked away in your Cabana suite? Cathay Pacific asks guests not to exceed ninety minutes, and there’s no option to have food or drinks delivered to your Cabana – so just run yourself a soothing bath and make the most of it.

Have used these several times, room air con can make it quiet cold esp if having a shower. For a snooze remove the cushion near the wall on the day bed for extra length, plus put feet close to wall not yr head otherwise yr head gets blasted with cold air from the air con. Handy valet pressing service via the double doored wardrobe cupboard too.

Going back many years there used to be a pebbled floor and you could actually walk to the next cabana. I never realised this until one evening I heard a women screaming as some guy had walked past her cabana smoking a cigarette. They also used to bring drinks to the room if you asked.

I have visited Cathay Pacific Wing and tried the Cabana rooms. My experience was not good. I decided to take a relaxing bath but it was filthy. I only realized this when I turned on the water and slowly watched it fill and I could see scum and debris. Not a happy experience

These cabanas are ok, but agree terribly cold the waterfall tends to go everywhere, including the lie down The Wing First (at least pre-covid) is better than Pier First which has tiny show rooms with poor ventilation so you end up in a sauna, and it also has self serve champagne If both are open, use both! The slumber rooms in Pier First are quite good
