Hi all,

I have an 8 hour connection at Changi in a week's time. I could spend it all in the new KrisFlyer Silver lounge (have a SIA business class flight departing) but am interested in others' tips and tricks for long transits at Changi.

Unfortunately the city tours haven't re-commenced post pandemic but is there anything else you'd recommend doing to kill the time? My flight arrival is 3:30pm and my departure flight is 12:30am.

Cheers

I spent a similar amount of time there a month ago. I filled the time with lounge hopping in T1, I was on a QF biz flight and have BA Gold Exec membership so had a couple of choices. I visited the archipelago craft beer bar at T1, worth a look if that's your thing. Alternatively the Jewel is open and worth a visit.

I booked the transit hotel in T1, which was good if a bit expensive when I had 11 hour layover last month. The transit hotel in T3 is better and if it's all SIA then staying in T3 is preferable IMHO. Has to be booked in advance - there is never any availability if you just rock up.

With 8 hours, I'd splash out and head into town or one of the better hotels and book in a massage/swim and shower followed by a good feed after. St Regis is a good option.

Ah yeah, even better! I guess when I was there it was still necessary to get tested for covid etc prior to leaving transit

The Transit hotel is the way to go.I recall quite a long time ago to the UK it was almost six hours at Changi on the way to London coming from Adelaide on Singapore Airlines I could not justify the costs of a Transit Hotel so made do with walking around the airport and a Diet Soft Drink to keep awake for the onward sector(Unlike Today where things like Qatar via Doha or Qantas via Perth exist of which the transit time is better than anything over Singapore now)shame no city tours exists for those few hours that return in time for the onward trips so you are stuck at the airport.

Thanks everyone. Some good suggestions and ideas. Might make for a good article from the Executive Traveller crew - ones talking about transit times and transfers? We've had ones on the best hotels in Bangkok and Singapore, but maybe something on how to maximise your stopovers/transits?

Spent a similar amount of time in Changi prior to covid, unfortunately the city tour times didn't line up with my arrival/departure times.

There was plenty to at the airport itself. I spent some time in the lounge - had some food and a shower. Had a wander through the butterfly gardens, and browsed through some of the shops. Spent a bit of time up by the pool having a few drinks - didn't swim as i didn't think to bring my bathers in my carry on, but otherwise would have been really nice to do so.

The Jewel is open now - which from all reports is amazing and can easily waste a bit of time there as well.

There's also various other things like a cinema etc worth checking out as well.

The new lounge is great, but with that much time I'd head into town. Was there a week ago and getting through immigration took about 10 minutes. No test required, just an online form before you arrive. I was having some issues with the taxi app (Comfort Delgro) but found Grab (SEA's Uber) to be fantastic.

I have an 8 hour layover between two SQ flights between midnight and 8am. Travelling in J. What’s the recommendation based on everyone’s experience? Hang out in the lounge , or the airside hotel ? Or Crowne plaza ?

Given the timing, the airside transit hotel seems the go. T3 hotel is good.
