im sorry to ask but a bit confused as i normally fly direct and dont transfer from domestic to international - i am flying from adl to mel qantas - and then onto emirates international to cph - can i through check in adelaide or do what i did last time was check in domestic, collect luggage, and recheck in for international at melbourne - thanks

You can as your not entering another country. For example, on your way back you will have to recheck your bags in Melbourne.

You can interline QF to EK if they are a single or seperate PNR.

I am pretty sure the agreement with Qantas and Emirates states the PNR has to be the same for all the flights to allow through check in.

This is this is the link to the QF interlining page QF to EK or EK to QF on seperate PNRs was been in place since the partnership started. I asked QF in ADL a couple of weeks ago about this scenario as I am doing the same thing in 2 weeks, the lounge staff indicated it maybe up to EK depending on if they want to check your vac certificate's and do the check in at MEL.

Prior to Covid I have through checked QF to EK on seperate PNRs from ADL many times.
