Hello fellow travellers

I'm booked to fly Sydney to Vancouver in August, I'm flying business class there weren’t many seats to choose from so I called up Qantas and the staff member informed me that the seats I would like are all blocked for the airport. Will these seats ever become available closer to the departure date?

Also on the return which lounge will I be able to use as I recall the Cathay lounge is closed.

Hi Stormtraveller,

Try checking the seat selection 72 hours prior to your flight. Most blocked seats seem to be available from that time.

80 hours not 72.
Also you haven’t told us your status. On the 787, Rows 1-2 are reserved for platinum one and chairman’s lounge. Rows 3-4 for platinums and up to 6 for gold. Row 11 is also blocked for emeralds.

Ok thanks for that information, I'm silver status on Qantas. I guess my status isn’t high enough to nab a seat in those upper rows. Would it still be worth checking 80hrs prior to departure?

Stormtraveller, I’d definitely try 72 hours before your flight departure time.
