I have separate tickets/PNR for AirAsia Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta and then QF42 flight to Sydney (3-4hrs after arrival Jakarta). Does anyone know if AirAsia will check baggage through to Sydney; and if Qantas has transit area desk to get boarding pass if I cannot get online?
Good luck with that. I do not think that Air Asia will check baggage through (they not even in OneWorld!) and 3 hours of layover is very little time to be guaranteed to collect your bag and get out for check in on QF flight. With such awkward separate booking I would plan as least 6 hr of layover. Or cabin baggage only.
