Would love them to add a MEL - OOL service as the current offerings from Jetstar and Virgin Blue are unsatisfactory.

taking into account that QF is also a PUBLIC transport operator....just like the others.... what 'offerings' would 'satisfy' YOU?

That would make sense.

A morning and evening flight from MEL would make a lot of sense (and eventually a daily 717 to CBR?).

I wonder if the extra SYD flight would involve movement of the current services (morning/midday/evening) to fit the extra flight in or perhaps they intend to add a later evening flight (the current final service departs quite early, 4:30ish from memory)?

The morning flight is well-timed at 0710. The midday flight could be moved a bit earlier, say to 1110. The afternoon flight could be left in more or less the same slot, say 1610, but then the extra flight should be slotted into the evening, say around 1910.

It can be done.

I usually just fly to BNE and drive down these days - way better frequency of service, and it doesn't take THAT much longer to drive to Surfer's from BNE than it does from OOL...

I wonder if OOL can really sustain that many services/routes with that many airlines?

A MEL service would be most welcome from a Tasmanian perspective. Since JQ shifted it's HBA-OOL service to BNE, reaching the Gold Coast and northern NSW has been more difficult.

Hi Guest, join in the discussion on Word in the lounge is that Qantas is ramping up OOL ops– Adding a MEL service and extra SYD.
