I got a nice survey from Jetstar. Did the survey involve selecting from two different fare bundles, picking the lesser of two evils?

I tended to lean towards an strong emphasis on QFF points and modest included baggage, a lesser emphasis on refreshments and vouchers, and steered well clear of in-flight entertainment and other things I perceived as superfluous.

I received one recently which asked what my preferred airline, among other factors, would be between AU/NZ should QF no longer service the routes. I graded AirNZ & EK highly and Jetstar at the extreme lowest hoping they get the message. As a QFF I wouldn't mind flying EK exclusively but they would need to additional frequency to make it work, which isn't likely.

No - it was more aimed at the elasticity of the bag fee if you had to add one, i guess similar to Air NZ and Virgin in many respects for the Seat/Saver Lite product

Question here is whether the price of the ticket would drop. For example MEL/SYD:

Correct - They would have to come down, i wonder if Emirates would follow suit on Trans Tasman. Domestically it would be welcomed too. I rarely need to check in bags, and always appreciate paying for what i use.

Which is exactly why Qantas won't unbundle their fares. The necessary drop in fares would never be met by the revenue that charging for bags would create, because so many people will carry their luggage on regardless of the fare/baggage situation. 

Don't read anything into it. They do these surveys all the time, and there is rarely any corresponding action taken. 

I would hate to see the American situation where pax take all their stuff as carry-on even if it is vastly in excess of the limit. O/h bins fill up rapidly leaving a lot of very unhappy people. All to save a few bucks.  I would hate to see Qantas go down this path.

America? You mustn't have flown aus domestic recently! Every bogan trying to take 3 pieces on board to save $20 in baggage fees

I think it's great as long as they enforce it, and penalise at the gate if you have too much. 

British Airways use it and do police it fairly well. I very rarely take the baggage inclusive fares and getting from street to gate and gate to street is much faster in Europe because of it, even with the longer lines in the non-EU Citizens lanes.
