  1. Get travel insurance
  2. See as much as you can whilst you are there
  3. if you have to do repeat trips, stick with one airline so you can build frequent flyer points

Make sure your company or a company pays for your accomodation.

Where is your office located?

Hope you're being paid by the hour! :-)

Go CX for flexibility. Live on the island. Immerse yourself in the ex-pat scene and get a liver check before you go!

Living on the island is great but if your office is near the airport the commute would be a pain. Living out near the airport would be convenient but Tung Chung is a bit out of the action, and Discovery Bay is not real Hong Kong. Maybe split the difference and stay somewhere like Olympic, that way you have less of a work commute but can get into town as well.

CX has much better schedules to HK than QF, including overnight flights both ways.

There's always plenty to do after hours and on weekends, check HK Magazine or Timeout. If you don't know anyone, join the Australian Association and go to their events. HK is full of temporary contractors so it is easy to make friends.

HK has great restaurants and bars so be prepared to put on weight.
