The 'best' moile app for business travel would be:
1. Any app that is offered on an Apple IOS, Android and Windows phone operating system.
2. An app that can store and retireve boarding passes.
3. An app that can tie into ALL airline alliances OR an app that can tie into your preferred alliance without being 'airline' specific. In ther words, shows ALL (Oneworld / Star / SkyTeam - pick which one - scheduled flights).
4. Allows hotel bookings
5. Allows rental car / Uber bookings
6. Keeps track of expenses and allws the scanning of receipts
7. Presents a logical, customisablle form of alerts and reminders
8. Has up-to-date delayed flight warnings
That sort of leaves this type of app in two (2) categories. 1) the 'retail' app for many of us - so we would be talking about enhanced versions of Expedia or Kayak - with points 5, 6, 7 added or 2) customised corporate travel apps such as those provided by Carlson-Wagonlit / Amex etc.

Best Mobile Apps for Business Travel.
What are the best apps for business travel? Keen to hear everyone thoughts. Beyond the airline apps and TripIt etc, what is everyone using?

Well the app I am going to recommend you won't really help you out but it's a fun way to know where you've been travelling and such.
Been - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/been/id680148327?mt=8
Just a fun app to keep a track of how many countries you have visited.

Thanks Kimshep.
Have you used the Hipmunk app for all airline flight options? I like it and have used it a number of times whilst travelling.
The other ones that I like are :
- loungebuddy
- hotel tonight
Has anyone used foursquare or everplaces fully whilst travelling? Useful?
