It's not long since Emirates began using the A380 for morning flights out of Perth and it seems for at least the next month they're using a 777 300 again. Anyone know why?

They lost the keys to the A380

I think I may know why...

In the Brisbane Airport timetable for November and December, Emirates is putting the A380 on the early morning EK432/3 service. This route is normally a 777-300er and the routing is DXB-SIN-BNE-SIN-DXB. This may not be right but it is a good guess.

I think the BNE timetable might be a typo and will still be operated by the 777-300ER.

Emirates' statement on these changes:

"Emirates flights EK424 and EK425 between Dubai and Perth will be temporarily operated by a B777-300ER from 30 October 2016 until 30 November 2016 due to operational reasons. Following this period, the service is scheduled to resume as a daily A380 service between Dubai and Perth, complementing our EK421 evening departure from Perth to Dubai, which is operated by an A380 aircraft."

The Brisbane-Singapore-Dubai flights continue to have the Boeing 777-300ER assigned, so I wouldn't take too much notice of the Brisbane Airport timetable for now.

Maybe something to do with standing down an A380 pilot (due to the incident at Perth) and not having enough crew to maintain the schedule and expand the number of routes serviced by the A380?

Hello, has anyone seen that from the 7th Feb 2017, Emirates schedule is saying that Perth to Dubai EK425 is back to a 777 rather than the secondary A380.  Does anyone know why and if this is a permanent return of this smaller aircraft?

The pilot potentailly got done for reckless flying and the A380 has been impounded for 28 days.

I heard they tried passing it off as "maintenance" so that it wouldn't be seen as a major issue

The 777 is there to stay on the morning flight, as far ahead as year-end 2017.   Maintenance, no,...it's market forces,..a better match of demand with supply.

Probably from the kalamunda/high wycombe anti-progress association complaining about the noise of the beast.

The A380 is a quieter aircraft to the 777...
