Take a look at Air NZ. Great Business Class Product if you don't mind the stop in AKL

Having recently looked at the same scenario, I decided that Air New Zealand was the best available choice. Both price and product are a contributing factor plus avoiding any transit thru LAX or SFO.

Cathay have some great fares to North America - or at least they did last time I looked - but it is a longer option. Can do it all on the A350 though so a pretty good product if you've got the time. Otherwise i'd punt for Air NZ.

Agreed, Air NZ has a decent J class product at a competitive price point on this route which fly direct from AKL to YVR. 1-2-1 config with full aisle access and fully flat beds.

Otherwise a creative option is to book J class from SYD/MEL to LAX/SFO direct then book a cheaper Y class from there to YVR which may work out cheaper as the flight from there is short.
