Flying on Award ticket with a suspend account

Yesterday I received a letter from Velocity advising that my account is temporarily suspended pending an audit from their end. When i queried it they advised that it was routine and would take on average 30 days for them to contact me again but that i couldn't use my account for the duration of the audit. But now i am worried that if my account is suspended then i may have issues traveling on my award tickets that have already been booked. I am flying in a couple weeks to the USA on a Velocity Award ticket that i booked months ago. I am flying Emirates on the way there and Virgin on the return. Does anyone have experience with this?

Check directly with the airline to see if your booking is still valid (no need to call, just use "manage my booking" in the respective airline's website). I haven't had experience with VA but I once had award ticket cancelled with United that I bought with those FFP barterers. When I tried to select meal on the website it said my ticket was cancelled.

Did you do anything dodgy? Like selling miles on gumtree? If you haven't done anything illegal there is nothing to be afraid of. But if you did, I can't guarantee anything. The ticket can be cancelled anytime.

...or buying points or award flights ?   Clearly if the award tickets have been obtained in compliance with the T&Cs  the OP can contact VA and to get the account suspension lifted.  If not a plan B for getting back from the US would be well advised.  Entry to the US (or even departure from Australia) may also be refused if the award ticket on VA is cancelled before arrival.  That's assuming the outbound ticket on Emirates isn't subject to the same scrutiny!

Both tickets are still showing as active now, just worried that this might change just before I fly without leaving me time to make alternate arrangements.

No, I don't think I have done anything dodgy although I did just deposit a bunch of points into my account from my personal credit card for their 15% bonus promotion.

I'm a dual citizen so refusal of entry is not really a concern, it's more about the ticket being canceled last minute or while I'm at the airport as I'm flying with my wife and two kids.

In that case there is nothing to worry. I had my VA account suspended once during the KF 5000 point sign up bonus. I signed up all my family members (real people, not dogs or goldfishes), transferred them to VA and pooled them all into my VA account. Then I received a phone call from KF asking me some details of the account I sign up with (like their DOB, address etc). Because they were all genuine people and genuinely my family members, my suspension was lifted.

If your trip is close, just give VA a call. You haven't done anything dodgy against their T&C, there is no reason they'll cancel your ticket. I wouldn't worry about it. But if you need some reassurance, definitely give them a call, record the name of the agent and get a reference number for the conversation.

Good luck but I don't think you'll need it! :)
