Just heard at a tourism industry conference that QF has committed to add a 3rd daily service on the MEL ~ SIN route in 2018. Anyone has more insider news? I hope it will be an overnight MEL~SIN and then daytime SIN~MEL, this will give us options to do daytime/overnight return flights on both directions.
This could be true as I have also heard there has been discussions of a second daily flight out of BNE in 2018, which would make sense considering the amount of traffic that will connect to QF1 via Singapore from March. The current QF51 does not provide for a good connection at all (6 hour layover).

I can't see QF putting another A380 on the route - remember they are staring MEL-SIN A380 flights next March. I struggle to see this happening, I would have though China to better compete with VA if anything at all

Could they be referring to the new 380 flight? Combined with the EK flight that gives Qantas 3 daily ex MEL and can market it like that. I would highly doubt a 3rd daily on QF metal would come in unless EK dropped their flight.

They are also making the new, originally announced 'seasonal', SYD-KIX flight (QF33/34) permanent. This was planned to be 3 weekly starting in 10 days time through late March when the Kangaroo route changes start and will now be year round. Between the new KIX flights and the increase to daily for QF37/38, the 'spare' A330 from the QF35/36 upgrade is used.
